General Info: We are pleased to assist you in planning your wedding. We feel fortunate that God has permitted us to have a facility that is both large and beautiful enough that you would consider it as the setting for your special day. We ask that the following procedures and guidelines be observed during all rehearsals, weddings, and receptions in the church building.

Our building policy is designed to encourage and to assist you in an orderly and efficient use of the facilities. With a large investment in the property and building, we believe good stewardship demands that we formulate guidelines for the proper use and protection of our property. We want our building to be used, but we also want it to be cared for and well-maintained.

We certainly do not view our building as a sacred entity. It is, however, our primary place of teaching, fellowship, and worship. As a matter of conscience, we cannot sponsor, condone, or bid Godspeed to any event in our building that is sacrilegious or unbecoming for a church setting.

Fee Structure: We wish it were possible to provide our building without charge; however, utility costs, insurance, maintenance, and custodial care prohibits such a generous policy. Non-members are charged $750 for the use of the auditorium and $250 for the use of the fellowship hall and kitchen areas. These fees cover utility expenses and custodial service. If you choose to clean the building yourself we will refund $250 of the cost. For your convenience, a church member will be available to assist you in the operation and care of our facilities.

If you choose to include music in your ceremony, we have a state-of-the-art sound system. An additional $200 is charged for a trained individual to be present to operate the equipment in the sound room for rehearsal and ceremony.

Our ministers are always happy to discuss your wedding ceremony with you. Or, if your prefer, other ministers may also be selected for your ceremony. If you choose to be married by one of our staff ministers, an honorarium of $75 is suggested. The ministers' honorarium is not included in the building use fees. As a matter of conscience, our pulpit minister has declined to officiate weddings for co-habituating couples.

A deposit of $100 (non-refundable) will reserve the date you have chosen. The balance of the fees must be paid two weeks in advance of your wedding date. Please make checks payable to Xenia Church of Christ.

Scheduling: Ceremonies may be scheduled by calling our church office at (937) 372-8919. Our office manager will check the master calendar to ensure that the date you prefer is available and does not conflict with other previously scheduled services or activities. Please do not make definite plans nor publicize the date of your wedding until it has been officially placed on the master calendar.

Recreation, Food and Drink in the Church Building: The use of alcoholic beverages is strictly prohibited on church property at all times. Smoking is also prohibited inside the building at all times. Dancing and gambling, in any form, are also prohibited anywhere on church property. Please confine all eating and drinking to the fellowship hall area at the end of the main hallway.

Dressing Rooms: The bride and her attendants will use the nursery room off the hallway as a  dressing room. The groom and his attendants will use the conference room at the rear of the auditorium as their dressing room.

Music, Sound and Lighting: Soloists, vocal ensembles, taped vocal or instrumental music, a keyboard, or a small hand carried instrument may be used for your wedding. If an instrument is brought in for the wedding, it must be removed the same day. All music chosen should reflect good taste and should underscore the seriousness of the occasion.

Stage Furniture and Tables: Our stage furniture was designed to add the crowning touch to the decor of the auditorium. If you want to move one or more pieces, please discuss this with the minister assisting you with your wedding. Please do not attempt to move or store furniture without prior approval. Tables that are moved from the classrooms or within the fellowship hall for your reception must be moved back to their original positions for our Sunday morning Bible classes.

Candles: We ask that drip-less candles be used. Waxed candles are prohibited.

Outside Groups: All florists, caterers, photographers, musicians, wedding consultants and ministers should expect to abide by all guidelines as set forth on this webpage. We ask that you make these individuals aware of the policies which govern the use of our building.

Our building custodians are not responsible for setting up or taking down your equipment or floral decorations. Florists and caterers should remove their equipment on the day of the wedding.

Rice and Confetti: In order to protect our building from undue damage and to facilitate the clean-up process, please do not use rice or confetti. Birdseed may be used, but should not be thrown inside the building or underneath the carport. If desired, you may have your guests throw it at the back entrance to the fellowship hall.

Children: We request that children not be allowed to run free throughout the building nor left unattended in the nursery or classrooms at any time.

Hours: Unless special permission is granted, all activities should be concluded and the building vacated by 11:00 pm.

Damages: The individual who schedules an activity for the building will assume full responsibility, on behalf or their group, for any damages that may occur to the building, or to its furnishings, resulting from their use.
