February 9, 2008
Every winter, we have a special
birthday dinner to celebrate
everyone's birthday at the same
time. At the dinner,
each of the twelve months has it's
own table and it's own theme.
Whatever the theme is, all the foods
and decorations from that table
express that theme. All the tables
are set up around the room to form
one massive circular buffet line.
Still unsure how this works?
Follow these examples. A February
table might have a chocolate or
romantic theme because of
Valentine's Day. In that case, all
the foods and decorations could be
various chocolate desserts or items
you might find in a fancy French
restaurant. A July table might have
a ballgame theme. Accordingly, all
the foods and decorations would be
items you would find at a ballpark.
An October table might have a
harvest theme. Therefore, all the
foods and decorations would be
inspired by crop harvesting and
Autumn activities. Since November is
deer season, its table might
have a wild game theme. All of the
dishes there would feature wild game
recipes.
People can start at any table
they wish and visit all of them if
they like. It's a wonderful time
that expresses true cooking
ingenuity and creativity. Join us
this January when the next Birthday
Dinner rolls around. It's a treat
your taste buds won't forget.
