After spending time visiting a
new church, you may come to the
point of wanting to place
membership. This is a vital way to
grow as a Christian because once you
join a community of people with a
similar faith, you benefit from
their influence. There are two important
things to understand about joining a
church though or placing membership.
- If by membership you mean
joining the church in a
theological sense, that is
accomplished by becoming a
Christian. The Bible teaches
that whenever anyone is baptized
into Christ, God himself adds
that person to his church and
your name is written in the Book
of Life. This is a theological
understanding that needs to be
clearly understood. If you have
already become a Christian, then
you are already part of God's
universal church.
- If by membership you mean
joining a local congregation,
that is accomplished simply by
making your request known to an
elder, a minister, or the church
secretary.
Joining a local congregation has
many benefits, namely the support
and fellowship of other Christians.
If you are interested in placing
membership or transferring
membership, please contact one of
our ministers or elders. They can
help you with that request.
