Mission trips are great
experiences because they teach our youth the
value and necessity of sharing faith and serving
others, and they do it through real-life
experiences. This summer, serving others will be
at the forefront of our mission with the
Carolina Workcamp in Charlotte, NC. There, we'll
join groups from both Carolinas in home-repair
outreach efforts. |

The dates for the
Carolina Workcamp are July 20-25, 2008. The
hosting church is
Providence Road Church of Christ in
Charlotte, NC. During the days, we'll serve
residents by
scraping and painting homes while simultaneously
sharing our faith with those homeowners. In the
evenings, we'll gather for worship and group
devotionals.
The deadline to
sign up is May 25.
History of Mission Trips at Xenia
Mission trips have been an
important part of the youth ministry for many
years. In 2006 and 2007, our teens went to New
Orleans, LA to aid in recovery work from
Hurricane Katrina. To do this, we partnered with
Hilltop Rescue and Relief
in 2006 and
Operation Nehemiah in 2007. The work was dirty and
grueling, but the sense of satisfaction made
everything worth it. In 2005, our teens rebuilt two roofs for
low-income residents of Nashville, TN. This was
in partnership with
ReConstruct. Although the sun was blazing
and the humidity high, our teens did the job
with a great attitude and an infectious spirit. From 2002 to 2004, our teens went to the inner
city of Nashville, TN. There, they helped
with local outreach efforts organized by
Nashville Inner City Ministry and
Lipscomb University. In 1998, members of the youth group went to Mexico and spent a week building
houses for the homeless and impoverished. In 1996 and 1997, the youth group travelled
to Aberdeen, SD and put on a VBS program for the
Aberdeen Church of Christ.
