Greenhouse is our small group for both teens and parents of teens. It meets on Sunday nights from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Marcus' home in Beavercreek.
So why is it called Greenhouse? A greenhouse is designed to be a safe and protected environment in which plants can be nurtured and grown in optimized conditions and with special care. Plants grown in a greenhouse are stronger, healthier, and, once ready, able to be transplanted in the real world. Basically, we want to do the same thing with our youth. Greenhouse is composed of two elements: cultivators and the cultivated.
-
The cultivators are parents and youth leaders who work with our youth to cultivate them from adolescence to young adulthood. We work together to nurture, teach, guide, and encourage our youth during the teenage years. We will also focus on instilling leadership qualities in our youth.
-
The cultivated are our youth and our parents. The teens are the object of our nurturing, teaching, guiding, and encouragement. However, parents are also cultivated to be the best parents they can be. Youth culture is always changing and the best parents are those who understand the world of teens and look for ways to interact with them in it.
Each week at Greenhouse, we will have a combined time of praise and community sharing. Then the two groups will split to have their own group study time. Afterwards, we come together again for snacks and socializing.
