Good youth ministry doesn't just happen, nor does it happen when only a few adults get involved. Good youth ministry happens when a team of adults make a conscious choice to dedicate themselves to loving God and loving teens.

A team of committed adults is just what we have. They serve because they love God and they love their kids.

Leading the team is our youth minister. Assisting him is an elder, a committee of parents and adults, and several others who serve as Bible teachers, teen small group leaders, and chaperones on youth trips.

Thanks to all their dedication and help, we are able to offer an adaptive and ever-evolving student ministry to meet the needs of our ever-changing teenagers.

The student ministry strives to follow the example of Jesus by leading, teaching, and empowering youth to lead and teach others. This is the ministry model that Jesus demonstrated in the gospels.

Jesus led the disciples for three years on a journey of discovery while teaching them new truths along the way. He empowered them to lead and teach others. Before Jesus gave the Great Commission at the end of Matthew, he demonstrated it first with the disciples.

This pattern was effective is spiritual discovery, growth, and commitment then and it serves as an inspired example for youth workers today. It is sometimes called "Jesus Style Ministry."

There are a lot of trendy and postmodern models of doing student ministry. Some think that you must be a genius to do this (or at least a little nuts). Sometimes the greatest ministry happens when you follow a very simple yet biblical formula:

Love God. Love kids. The rest is in the details.
